Printer ink costs more than human blood…
I am going through the agonies of getting my printer working with a bulk ink feeding system… yeah, it’s been going on since mid-November. Part of me thought I should just go back to original Epson ink cartridges. My printer takes eight of them, and each one costs about fifteen bucks… By contrast, the same amount of ink bought in bulk is just a couple of bucks. Criminy! So I gotta get the bulk feeder working again. Today is going to be a great day – Epson is shipping me my third replacement printer. I’ve had bad luck with the other two…
I’ve discovered two interesting facts about printer ink. First, it costs more than human blood – so that’s more than $2000 clams per gallon. By contrast, a gallon of vodka is, what, 50 bucks? We need to invent a printer that runs on vodka, people!
Also, here’s a fun note. There’s a group trying to legislate labeling requirements for cartridges, which of course the printer companies don’t want. Lexmark has already submitted a letter saying that displaying any information on the cartridges will only confuse consumers, because the cartridges are micro-machines and not just ink containers.
Oh, a micro-machine! NOW I’m impressed!
